The caravan (which is privately owned) is sited in a quiet location on a professionally run site, with an indoor swimming pool (Which can be used by visitors for a fee paid at reception). The site has a self- service COST-CUTTERS shop (which is open until 5pm during the season)..
There is a Woodland adventure playground for the children and woodland nature walks also on the site (all well signed).
A mini golf course is also available for visitors to use (Fee payable at reception). Laundry facilities are also available to visitors (fee payable at reception). There are no Club facilities on the site.
The Home farm car boot sale is held in the fields along the seafront every Saturday during the summer season, weather permitting.
There is also a café called The Driftwood, which overlooks Blue Anchor Bay. It is situated about 100 yards from the site, (at the main gate turn left). Open every day for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Well worth a visit.
There are two Public Houses within a few minutes walk of Blue Anchor Bay caravan Park. One is called The Smugglers, they serve Carvery food on Sundays, and they also serve food at other times during the week (you can also purchase food to takeaway), this one is the closet to Blue Anchor Park.
The name of the second one is Blue Anchor Hotel, Open all day every day. This one is sited a little further on up the hill but it is easily within walking distance of the site. They also serve very good food with a very good choice.
The outlook from the caravan is of Exmoor, which is a beautiful open space. The West Somerset Steam railway runs along the edge of the park, you can watch the trains go by, whilst sitting on the veranda. The train stops at Blue Anchor Railway Station, which is within easy walking distance of the site.
It is approximately a 5 mile car drive into Minehead, or you can travel by steam train. There is also a bus that stops outside the gates (Timetable is in a red folder in the caravan) you can spend an enjoyable day looking around the sops, eating at various restaurants or café. Also there are plenty of hostelries where you can enjoy both food and drink. A lovely time can be had by all.
The Minehead market (Open during the summer season) Open all day on Tuesday is sited opposite TESCO STORE on SEAWARD WAY and on Thursday again open all day on the main A39 nest to Minehead Rugby Club.
On most Sundays during the summer season (weather permitting) the 20 Acre car Boot Sale is held at Ellicombe, Turn Left at the 1st Island after passing through traffic lights at Dinster on the A39. It is always well signed.
The sandy and pebble beach of Blue Anchor Bay is just across the road from the main gate of the parl. Blue Anchor Bay is a gentle retreat where tensions simply melt away. One of the best views of Somerset summer sunsets can be seen from Blue Anchor. It reminds you of how holidays used to be. It is popular place with sea anglers, who fish from the sea wall. Listen to the lapping waves, forget your troubles and relax. Enjoy a slower pace that is the essence of the unspoilt corner of Somerset.
There is nothing to disturb your contentment. The best of both worlds is Blue Anchors charm; on one side the lapping waves of the open seascape looking towards the Welsh Coast in the distance. On the other - acres of green rolling countryside; birdlife;wilderness and tranquillity.
The only things to disturb your evenings are the breeze;;; the sound of the waves or maybe a rabbit or two nibbling grass outside the caravan.
From your own veranda listen to the sound of the steam train gently chugging its way past the park, close your eyes, sit back and RELAX and in the evening enjoy the peace and quiet whilst sipping a long cold drink..HEAVEN.
The Somerset coastline remains largely unspoilt and untarnished from commercialism with its collection of fishing villages, breath-taking coastline,.Medieval Castle; rolling hills and not least the dramatic landscape of EXMOOR, a walkers paradise.
