Picture of family in Thailand

Those who make the 11-hour air journey to Thailand will find that there is much more to visit than just its capital, Bangkok".

Advice on booking your holiday in Thailand

Everyone has been touched by the Asian Tsunami, the effect it has had on the people of the areas hit has shocked us all. However it is important to remember that while some areas will take some time to rebuild, many are already back to normal, and some were not affected at all.  Although images of the Tsunami will remain in our thoughts, the idyllic beautiful beaches, palm trees, culture and sunshine are still there to be enjoyed. The tourism industry is very important to Thailand, take a holiday here and show your support at this time.  Rest assured that the property featured on DaltonsHolidays.com was untouched by the Tsunami and the beach and all amenities are ready for tourists to enjoy. For further information please call the advertiser who will be happy to help.

If you would like to make a donation to the Disasters Emergency Committee to help those affected by the Tsunami call 0870 60 60 900 or www.dec.org.uk

Thailands capital Bangkok

The capital Bangkok combines the two unlikely combinations of being both modern and historic. Once dubbed the Venice of the East due to the numbers of rivers that crossed it, travellers do not have to venture far to see the houses on stilts and floating markets in which vendors sell from their boats.  Being a Buddhist country with a monarchy, the main tourist hot spots in Bangkok are the temples of Wat Arun, Wat Benchamabophit, and the Grand Palace of King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit.

Rural and Active Thailand

Rural life can be explored in the northern hill region, cooler than the south, the north is thickly forested and many tribes are distinguished by their different-coloured clothes.  Adventure seekers can trek into the teak forests to watch elephants at work, explore temples or go on elephant safaris.  On the Andaman Sea coast is the island of Phuket, it is connected to the mainland by a causeway, but has all the facilities with which to enjoy a tropical holiday - kayaking, sailing, fishing, diving and snorkelling.

Thai food

Fans of Thai food will really enjoy eating in its natural environment, although it may tend to be a bit spicier in its country of origin than in the UK.
