Come to stay for a refreshing break in our coverted windmill tower at Long Barrow. It is a romantic hideaway, an artist's inspiration or an explorer's base camp, set in the picturesque Devon countryside, four miles inland from the beaches of Torbay, between the South Hams, Dartmoor and the sea. Cosy and comfortable, with three rooms and a bathroom and full central heating. Designed for adult couples, but the sofa-bed in the living room provides additional sleeping acommodation if needed. The kitchen/living room is on the round floor and has breathtaking views over the countryside to Dartmoor on the horizon. The kitchen area has an electric double oven and two-ring hob, a microwave and a fridge with freezer compartment. Winding stairs (unsuitable for small children or people with limited mobility) take you to the double bedroom with fine Victorian iron bed and views to Dartmoor and the sea. Above the bedroom is a spacious bathroom with shower and bath, and then steep 'space-saving' stairs lead up to the Miller's Eye, a room from wich you have truly spectacular views in all directions. You can often look a buzzard in the eye as it circles over the field, or watch ponies pass in the lane. Borrow our binoculars and spy on 400 square miles of countryside and wildlife, or just enjoy sitting peacefully in this unique room.
A lawned area on the west side provides a place to sit out in good weather and offers spectacular sunsets over Dartmoor. You can eat at the millstone table. This area abuts directly onto the surrounding field which is actively farmed. There are interesting lanes cutting between the fields for gentle walks, while further afield you can explore both coast and moor by car or on foot.
